On June 13 at 11:00, the Ola Foundation cultural space invites you to a listening masterclass over morning coffee.
Have you ever found yourself sitting at a classical music concert and caught yourself thinking that your thoughts were wandering somewhere else? That the music seemed too complicated to understand?
Pianist Aurēlija Šimkus invites you to experience classical music differently - not in a traditional concert format or academic lecture, but in a listening masterclass in a relaxed, warm, and personal atmosphere over morning coffee at Ola.
This will be an opportunity to listen to music performed live by her, take part in a conversation, ask questions, and get to know classical music more closely beyond the usual preconceptions.
The piano music of the Polish genius Frédéric Chopin can move listeners both through its direct simplicity and in a refined and deeply poetic way. A work from his late period, Barcarolle (a boatmen's song - from Italian), is like a dream of a journey that never took place. The waters of Venice, sensuality, and the world of music as a gentle refuge from life's harsh and inevitable reality.
Together, we will explore an important masterpiece of piano music. Step by step, through dialogue, we will uncover the images, colors, and sound stories hidden within the chosen work. We will challenge the perception of classical music as an art form belonging to the past, elitist, and often even inaccessible. We will search for hidden treasures in works of art created by visionary geniuses. We will take with us the ability to dream and the desire to listen closely!
Participants will have a unique opportunity to engage individually in the process, ask questions, share their experiences with classical music, and enjoy music performed live.
