Kristaps Vanadziņš is one of Latvia’s most prominent contemporary jazz pianists and composers, whose creative work brings together jazz improvisation, the refinement of classical music, and a personal, cinematic musical language.
To mark his 40th birthday, the artist invites listeners to a special evening at the Ola Foundation cultural space, where different stages of his creative journey, longtime stage partners, and the music that has shaped and characterizes his artistic voice today will come together.
In Vanadziņš’s music, jazz improvisation meets the refinement of classical music, Latvian melodies meet personal stories, while spontaneity meets deep musical concentration. These qualities are especially vividly revealed in his latest creative direction, Piano is My Temple, which has become one of the artist’s most personal creative projects. Here, the piano is not merely an instrument but a space where silence, attention, and presence meet - a place where music becomes a conversation with oneself, the listener, and the moment.
On his jubilee evening, listeners are invited on a journey between memories and the present - from his first ensembles and early musical encounters to music created in recent years. A special place in the concert will be given to the music of Kristaps Vanadziņš’s jazz trio, which has formed an important part of his creative work for many years and will once again bring together longtime musical companions after an extended break.
Special guests will take the stage during the evening, featuring original compositions, improvisations, and beloved pieces in new interpretations.
The evening is conceived as a vivid and unrepeatable event. It is precisely in the unpredictability that one of the essential qualities of Kristaps Vanadziņš’s music lies - the ability to transform every performance into a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
The concert begins at 19:00; guests are invited from 18:15 for a glass of welcome wine and a visit to three current exhibitions.
