Time Signs. Ojārs Vācietis
August 19 at 19.00
This evening we will meet
Vilis Daudziņš
Zane Daudziņa
Aija Andrejeva
Jānis Aišpurs
There are personalities whose names do not fade with time. Their thoughts, words and feelings continue to live on in people, gaining new meaning in every generation. One of them is Ojārs Vācietis.
Academician Jānis Stradiņš called Ojārs Vācietis a great gift to a small nation, while Imants Ziedonis described him as the conscience of the nation.
Decades have passed, but his poetry can still speak just as directly and truthfully. It contains love and pain, tenderness and defiance, longing and faith in humanity. There is something in it that every generation discovers anew.
Beloved actors Vilis Daudziņš and Zane Daudziņa will reveal the subtle and deeply personal conversation between Ojārs Vācietis and his life partner, poet Ludmila Azarova. In their voices, poetry will become a living story - about two people, about love, about time.
Meanwhile, Aija Andrejeva and Jānis Aišpurs will perform songs with lyrics by Ojārs Vācietis, set to music by Raimonds Pauls, Imants Kalniņš, Uldis Stabulnieks, Jānis Lūsēns, Artūrs Maskats, Mārtiņš Brauns and other Latvian composers. These are songs that have become part of many people's own life stories.
It will be an evening where poetry, music and human stories come together.
The concert performance begins at 19.00; from 18.15, guests are invited to enjoy a glass of welcome wine and view the three current exhibitions.
Concert performance in two parts.
Intermission - 30 minutes.
We look forward to seeing you at Ola!
