Jānis Mediņš - our great Latvian composer, would have turned 135 this year. His opera Fire and Night is has become a cornerstone of Latvian music, while the piano dainas and orchestra Aria have already become part of the folklore.
In October, the outstanding pianist Reinis Zariņš and the record label SKANI will release a new piano music album honoring Mediņš's oeuvre and affirming its significance. Alongside widely known compositions, the album also includes several world premieres - including works from the composer's years in exile and the first Latvian Piano Concerto.
Concert on 11 October at OLĀ almost exactly coincides with Mediņš's birthday and will serve as the launch celebration for the new album. Reinis Zariņš will perform several rarely heard works by Mediņš, as well as musical gems by other Latvian composers.
Concertgoers will have the opportunity to purchase an album autographed by the artist.
Concert in 2 parts.

Concertgoers will be welcomed from 18:15 with a glass of welcome wine and an opportunity to view the current exhibitions.
