On April 18 at 7:00 p.m., the wonderful musician Jānis Šipkēvics will perform at the cultural venue Ola Foundation, presenting the premiere of a special solo program: SHIPSEA | Jānis Šipkēvics in concert for voice, piano, and an invisible choir.

The artist says about this concert: “There are conversations that can take place only with oneself; they are not spoken aloud. In a concert venue like this, I can find the gaze of everyone who comes. Person close to person, so close to oneself. And after such an attentive 80 minutes, I always feel that I have untangled some important knot. Emerged from my shell. And I know I am not the only one.”

The concert will feature songs with words by William Butler Yeats, E. E. Cummings, Ojārs Vācietis, Rainis, Agnese Krivade, and traditional folk lyrics.

The time will be vivid, immense, and unhurried - in the piano music of Erik Satie and Philip Glass, in the songs of Simon and Garfunkel, as well as in Jānis Šipkēvics’s own experimental new piano works.

The concert will be in two parts. Intermission: 30 minutes.

The concert begins at 7:00 p.m.; guests are invited to arrive from 6:15 p.m. for a glass of welcome wine and a viewing of the current exhibitions.
