The most wonderful, genuine, profound, magical, and valuable conversations happen when those engaged in dialogue reach a state of synchronicity. These are the moments when any conversation transforms into a work of art. Its rhythm turns into a dance, with steps flowing intuitively—at times unexpectedly complex, spinning into pirouettes whose very existence was unimaginable just moments before. When synchronicity emerges in a conversation, time disappears. There are only two or more dialogue partners on the same wavelength. How does this synchronicity occur? It remains a mystery. Even scientists, in their attempts to explain it, sometimes use the word magic. But conversations that happen in synchronicity always bring joy—even when moments of sadness are present.
Such moments are rare, which is why we are endlessly grateful to Edīte Pauls-Vīgnere for these instances of synchronicity. For the conversations spanning nearly half a year—at Edīte’s kitchen table and at her creative treasure chest of a workspace. Without them, this exhibition would not have been possible. It unfolded as a continuous conversation, one that seemed to have no interruptions. Because art is about life. Its very concept is life—as it happens.
Edīte Pauls-Vīgnere’s exhibition "Old Age at Play" is on view at the cultural space Ola Foundation until June 30.
