Ola Foundation presents Robert Koļcovs’s solo exhibition “The Inertia and Pull of Silence” | diena.lv

From October 8 to January 9, the Ola Foundation cultural space will host a retrospective exhibition celebrating artist Roberts Koļcovs’s anniversary, The Inertia and Pull of Silence. The exhibition features works created mostly over the past year—paintings and sculptural objects that bring together the artist’s characteristic precise line, the human body, nature, and mythological figures.

In the new exhibition, silence is neither emptiness nor a pause. It becomes an independent space with its own intensity, movement, and inertia—a setting where form and content can emerge. As the artist himself puts it: “Even stillness has inertia. Silence is loudness.”

In structuring the exhibition, Roberts Koļcovs continues to explore the principle of polarity that is central to his work—the tension between opposites, balance, and pull, which persists as movement from one pole to another. This relationship is expressed both in the works’ content and in their formal language, where the human body, the plant world, myth, the rhythm of graphic lines, and various materials come together.
